Leoncillo, La Partigiana veneta

Leoncillo Leonardi was a central figure in 20th-century Italian ceramic sculpture, renowned for his expressive, tactile approach to clay and his deep engagement with the socio-political climate of post-war Italy. This volume, published in 1985 by Multigrafica, serves as a scholarly monograph documenting his significant sculptural contributions, with a specific focus on the thematic weight of his work during the Resistance and the recovery period thereafter.

The book contextualizes Leoncillo's aesthetic, which frequently bridged the gap between traditional figurative sculpture and the raw, lacerated forms of abstraction. It provides a visual and historical record of his career, analyzing how his work—often characterized by aggressive manual intervention into the clay—mirrored the trauma and aspirations of the era. The monograph is considered a standard reference for understanding his technical mastery and the ideological motivations behind his most iconic pieces.
