Letters and Poems of Queen Elisabeth, Carmen Sylva V1

This volume is a modern reprint of the literary works of Queen Elisabeth of Romania, who wrote under the pseudonym Carmen Sylva. Originally published in the late nineteenth century, the collection reflects the Queen's prolific output as a poet, novelist, and essayist, a pursuit that made her one of the most prominent royal literary figures of the era. The work is deeply rooted in the romantic and nationalist aesthetics that characterized the cultural life of the Romanian royal court during the reign of King Carol I.

The 2007 edition released by Kessinger Publishing is part of a broader series dedicated to preserving rare, historical, and out-of-print texts. Kessinger’s approach focuses on making archival material accessible to modern scholars and researchers through facsimile reproductions. While the design of this specific edition is functional rather than artistic, it serves as a bridge for readers to engage with the prose and verse that once established Carmen Sylva as a respected, if sometimes criticized, intellectual voice in European literature.
