Manfred Thierry Mugler Photographe

Manfred Thierry Mugler Photographe was published in 2019 to celebrate the extensive photographic archives of the iconic French fashion designer. While Mugler is primarily renowned for his revolutionary haute couture, he frequently took on the role of photographer to capture his own creations, preferring to control the entire visual narrative of his work. This volume serves as a comprehensive retrospective, documenting his stylistic evolution from the 1970s through the early 21st century.

The book highlights Mugler’s distinct aesthetic, characterized by hyper-feminine silhouettes, structural experimentation, and a penchant for exotic locations. The design emphasizes the theatricality of his vision, juxtaposing his high-fashion editorial work with candid glimpses of his process. Upon release, it was well-received by the fashion industry as a definitive record of the designer's multi-disciplinary talent and his significant influence on late 20th-century visual culture.
