Where it came from
Published by Silvana in 2003, this monograph serves as a definitive survey of the work of Marco Petrus, a contemporary Italian painter celebrated for his structural and architectural approach to urban landscapes. The book was released during a pivotal period in the artist's career as he gained international recognition for his stark, geometric portrayals of Milanese architecture, which often transform historical facades into abstract, minimalist compositions.
The volume captures the essence of Petrus's distinct aesthetic, which strips away the human element of the city to focus on the interplay of light, shadow, and rigid geometry. Designed to document his development and stylistic rigor, the book provides a curated look at the technical discipline he employs, often utilizing a restricted palette to evoke a sense of silent, suspended time. It remains a key reference point for scholars and enthusiasts interested in the intersection of Italian modernism and contemporary painting.
