Matthäus-Kommentare aus der griechischen Kirche

Matthäus-Kommentare aus der griechischen Kirche was first published in 1957 as part of the Texte und Untersuchungen zur Geschichte der altchristlichen Literatur series. Compiled by Joseph Reuss, the volume serves as a critical scholarly resource for patristic studies, specifically gathering fragmented commentaries on the Gospel of Matthew written by Greek church fathers. It was produced to assist researchers in navigating the complex theological legacy of the early Byzantine Church.

The publication reflects the meticulous editorial standards of the Walter de Gruyter house, which has long been a bastion for academic theology and philology. Reuss focused on the preservation and systematic organization of exegetical traditions, aiming to provide a reliable foundational text for students of biblical history. Upon its release, the work was received within academic circles as a vital, highly specialized reference tool for those examining how the Greek tradition interpreted Matthew's gospel during the early centuries of Christianity.
