Paulinische Perspektiven

Paulinische Perspektiven, published in 1969, represents a seminal collection of essays by the influential German New Testament scholar Ernst Käsemann. Emerging from the post-war era of theological inquiry, the work reflects Käsemann's rigorous engagement with Pauline theology, particularly his focus on the concept of justification by faith and the apocalyptic dimensions of the apostle's thought. It served as a critical intervention in mid-20th-century biblical scholarship, challenging established paradigms and emphasizing the dynamic, history-altering power of the gospel.

The design and scholarly architecture of the volume were shaped by Käsemann's commitment to 'critical research,' a hallmark of his academic career. As a prominent voice of the post-Bultmannian era, he sought to move beyond mere historical criticism toward a deeper understanding of the church's foundation. The collection was received as a challenging and indispensable text for theologians, helping to define the parameters of academic debate on St. Paul for subsequent generations.
