Peace on earth, good-will to dogs

Peace on Earth, Good-Will to Dogs was originally published in 1920 by E.P. Dutton. Eleanor Hallowell Abbott, a prolific writer for popular magazines of the early twentieth century, crafted this sentimental holiday tale during a period when the American public displayed a fervent interest in anthropomorphic animal stories. The narrative reflects the literary conventions of the post-World War I era, focusing on themes of domestic harmony and the compassionate nature of animals as a reflection of human morality.

The book is a classic example of early twentieth-century gift literature, designed to be visually appealing for seasonal gifting. Abbott was known for her whimsical and emotionally resonant prose, and this particular work was aimed at readers seeking comfort and moral clarity through the lens of a Christmas-themed dog story. While the specific copy noted here is a modern reprint by ReadHowYouWant, it preserves the original text of a work that solidified Abbott's reputation as a writer who could successfully blend popular sentimentality with engaging, lighthearted storytelling.
