Project Scheduling with Time Windows

Project Scheduling with Time Windows was published in 2002 as part of the Physica-Verlag series dedicated to Operations Research. Authored by Ulrich Dorndorf, the work originated from academic research into the complexities of scheduling problems where tasks must be completed within specific temporal constraints. It was written to provide a rigorous mathematical framework for professionals and scholars grappling with the optimization of project timelines, reflecting the growing demand for analytical efficiency in industrial and computational project management during the early 2000s.

The text is characterized by its technical focus on constraint satisfaction and heuristic search methods, aiming to bridge the gap between abstract algorithmic theory and practical project implementation. Designed for a specialized audience of researchers and operations managers, the book was received as a structured contribution to the field of combinatorial optimization. Its publication within the Springer-related Physica-Verlag imprint established it as a reference point for those studying time-constrained scheduling within the broader disciplines of engineering and computer science.
