Puella Magi Madoka Magica, Vol. 3

Puella Magi Madoka Magica, Vol. 3 serves as the concluding installment of the manga adaptation of the 2011 anime series produced by Shaft and Aniplex. Created by the collective known as Magica Quartet, the series was written by Gen Urobuchi and illustrated by Hanokage. The manga was commissioned to parallel the television broadcast, providing a grounded, ink-and-paper interpretation of the dark magical girl narrative that subverted traditional genre expectations through its psychological depth and exploration of fate.

Hanokage's artistic direction for this volume focuses on balancing the series' iconic, whimsical aesthetic with the increasingly grim tone of its climax. The character designs maintain the distinct, sharp style established in the anime, while the panel layouts emphasize the emotional weight of the protagonists' sacrifices. Upon release, the volume was well-received by fans of the series, noted for its accessibility and for capturing the core thematic conflict of the original animation within the constraints of the manga medium.
