Where it came from
Published in 1995 by the Institut d'Estudis Balèarics, this monograph serves as a comprehensive catalog documenting the photographic practice of Roland Fischer. The work focuses on his signature aesthetic, which often features large-scale, clinical, and detached architectural portraits and human studies that emphasize structural repetition and the reduction of subjects to their essential formal qualities.
The volume captures the mid-1990s intersection of contemporary photography and architectural documentation. Fischer’s approach, characterized by a cool, analytical perspective, aligns with the German tradition of objective photography. Upon release, the book was recognized for its contribution to documenting the dialogue between modern facades and the human element, establishing Fischer as a notable figure in European fine art photography.
