Schriftenreihe der Internationalen Bachakademie Stuttgart: Passionen BWV 244, 245: Johannes-Passion, Matth aus-Passion. Gespr achskonzert (CD-ROM)

This CD-ROM is part of the Schriftenreihe der Internationalen Bachakademie Stuttgart, a scholarly series dedicated to the rigorous exploration of J.S. Bach’s works under the guidance of renowned conductor Helmuth Rilling. Released by Bärenreiter, a publisher internationally recognized for its high-quality music editions and pedagogical materials, this resource was designed to provide listeners and students with a deeper understanding of the liturgical and musical structures within the St. John and St. Matthew Passions.

The content reflects Rilling's lifelong commitment to Bach’s choral music and his distinctive approach to ‘Gesprächskonzerte,’ or lecture-concerts. By combining analytical commentary with musical excerpts, the project aims to bridge the gap between academic musicology and performance practice. It was intended for conservatory libraries and devoted Bach enthusiasts seeking a structured, multimedia guided tour through two of the most complex monuments of Western classical music.
