Where it came from
Published in 1997 by Christian Ejlers' forlag, this monograph serves as a definitive retrospective on the life and work of Søren Georg Jensen, a central figure in 20th-century Danish silversmithing. The book was produced to document his significant contributions to the Georg Jensen firm, capturing his evolution from a student of the goldsmith's craft to an influential designer whose work defined the sculptural and modernist aesthetic of the post-war era.
The text contextualizes Jensen's design philosophy, which emphasized the harmony between organic form and functional utility. By gathering photographic plates of his most iconic pieces alongside scholarly commentary, the volume highlights how he successfully bridged the gap between traditional craftsmanship and the demands of industrial production. It remains a primary reference for historians and collectors interested in the legacy of the Jensen workshop and the broader development of Scandinavian design.
