The gospel of Matthias Kent

The Gospel of Matthias Kent was published in 2010 by Draumr Publishing, an independent press known for fostering niche, atmospheric fiction. Written by Mike Silvestri, the work occupies the intersection of horror and philosophical inquiry, drawing upon a tradition of existential dread often found in contemporary weird fiction. It emerged during a period of growth for small-press experimental literature, where authors frequently pushed the boundaries of genre convention to explore themes of isolation and fragmented reality.

The design of the volume reflects an intentional effort to ground its unsettling narrative in an aesthetic of gravity and permanence. By utilizing the format of a gospel, Silvestri and his publisher aimed to evoke the gravity of religious texts while subverting those expectations with a grim, modern sensibility. It was received as a challenging, insular work that appealed primarily to readers interested in the darker, more introspective corners of the indie publishing scene.
