Tomorrow and Tomorrow

Published in 2014 by Headline, Tomorrow and Tomorrow marks the debut novel of American author Thomas Sweterlitsch. The narrative is set in the aftermath of a devastating terrorist attack that destroys a significant portion of Pittsburgh, forcing the characters to grapple with grief and memory through a digital archive known as the Archive. The work emerged during a period of rising interest in speculative fiction that explored the intersection of digital technology, loss, and the nature of human recollection.

Sweterlitsch, who holds a degree in literature and has worked as a librarian, crafted the novel with a focus on atmospheric tension and the psychological weight of virtual preservation. The design and narrative direction were intended to evoke the feeling of a noir-inspired procedural set against a near-future landscape. Upon its release, the book received positive attention for its ambitious scope and its nuanced examination of how society processes collective trauma in an age of total information.
