Virginia Half-Pay and Other Related Revolutionary War Pension Applications, Virginia Soldiers N-Z: Soldiers with surnames

This volume is part of a series published by Heritage Books, a firm dedicated to preserving genealogical records for researchers and historians. It compiles pension application files concerning Virginia soldiers who served in the Revolutionary War, specifically focusing on those seeking half-pay benefits under various legislative acts. These documents provide critical insight into the logistical and administrative efforts the fledgling United States undertook to compensate its veterans, often revealing specific military details and personal hardships experienced by soldiers with surnames ranging from N through Z.

The publication was designed as a reference tool for the genealogical and historical community, serving as a consolidated digital microfilm collection that translates raw archival records into a more accessible format. By gathering these pension applications into a single indexed work, the publisher aimed to simplify the process for scholars and descendants looking to verify lineage and military service. Its reception has been characterized by its utility as a primary resource for tracking state-level military participation in the late 18th century.
