Way of the Dragon or the Way of the Lamb

Way of the Dragon or the Way of the Lamb was written by Jamin Goggin and Kyle Strobel, published by Thomas Nelson in 2017. The book emerged from the authors' shared interest in the intersection of Christian theology and the contemporary obsession with leadership, power, and success. Motivated by a perceived disconnect between cultural definitions of leadership and the teachings of Jesus, the authors sought to critique modern pastoral models that prioritize influence and efficiency over service and vulnerability.

The design and conceptual framework draw heavily on the work of the late Eugene Peterson, who contributed the foreword, and the historical figure of Athanasius, whose writings against worldly power serve as a structural anchor. By contrasting the 'way of the dragon'—the pursuit of power and control—with the 'way of the lamb'—a path of sacrificial love and hiddenness—the book challenges readers to rethink the nature of ministry. It was received as a significant contribution to evangelical discourse, praised for its counter-cultural focus on character over charisma.
