Wege Zum Frieden Im Nachrömisch-Gotischen Italien

Published in 2021 by de Gruyter, this academic monograph by Steffen Boßhammer examines the socio-political efforts to establish peace and order in Italy during the transition from the late Roman period to the Ostrogothic kingdom. The work is situated within the broader field of Late Antique studies, focusing on the legal, administrative, and diplomatic maneuvers utilized by both Roman elites and Gothic rulers to stabilize a fractured geopolitical landscape.

The design and scholarly framework of the volume reflect the rigorous standards of the de Gruyter academic publishing house, which specializes in historical and humanities research. Boßhammer’s analysis is primarily concerned with the conceptualization of 'peace' as a political instrument rather than merely the absence of conflict, drawing on primary source documentation from the era. The book has been received as a focused contribution to the historiography of the post-Roman Mediterranean, aimed at scholars and advanced students of institutional history.
