Will Rogers, his wife's story

Originally published in 1941, this memoir was written by Betty Blake Rogers to provide an intimate look at the life of her husband, the renowned American humorist Will Rogers. Following his sudden death in a 1935 plane crash, Betty sought to chronicle their life together, offering a domestic perspective that balanced his public persona as a philosopher and performer with the reality of their family life. The narrative remains one of the primary personal accounts of his character, capturing the folksy wit and integrity that defined his career during the early 20th century.

The 1979 edition published by the University of Oklahoma Press serves as a significant reprint for the Western Frontier Library series. By the time of this release, the press was focused on preserving important works of Americana, ensuring that Betty's account remained available to scholars and fans of Rogers's legacy. The design and presentation maintain the academic standard typical of the university press, treating the manuscript as a vital historical document that offers researchers unique insight into the social landscape of the era in which the Rogers family rose to national prominence.
