Within Hasidic Circles Studies in Hasidism in Memory of Mordecai Wilensky (Hebrew)

Within Hasidic Circles, titled in Hebrew as Be-ma'gele ha-hasidut, was published in 1999 by the Bialik Institute as a scholarly tribute to Mordecai Wilensky, a distinguished historian of Eastern European Jewish history. The volume emerged from the academic tradition of researching the social and historical dimensions of the Hasidic movement, a field that seeks to move beyond hagiographic accounts to understand the movement's place within broader Jewish communal life in the 18th and 19th centuries.

Edited by Immanuel Etkes, a leading scholar on Hasidism and the Mitnagdic opposition, the work compiles peer-reviewed studies that reflect the rigorous source-critical methodology prevalent in Israeli academic circles at the end of the 20th century. The design and publication were managed by Mosad Bialik, an institution known for its commitment to high-quality academic printing and the preservation of Hebrew intellectual heritage, ensuring the volume served as both a formal academic resource and a respectful memorial to Wilensky's contributions to the field.
