Wolverine by Daniel Way

This collection compiles a significant portion of Daniel Way’s extensive run on the Wolverine solo title, originally serialized between 2005 and 2009. The narratives emerging from this era are noted for re-establishing Wolverine as a gritty, tactical operative within the Marvel Universe, following the character's memory-wiping events in the 'House of M' storyline. Way’s writing emphasized Logan’s primal instincts and his complex, often violent history, setting a tone that influenced subsequent interpretations of the character in both comics and film.

The artistic direction for this series featured contributions from several notable illustrators, including Javier Saltares and Stephen Segovia, who utilized a kinetic, high-contrast style intended to match the character’s aggressive combat nature. This design philosophy aimed to pivot away from traditional superhero aesthetics, opting instead for a visceral, cinematic approach. Upon its release and subsequent collected editions, the run was widely received as a definitive modern exploration of Wolverine’s rogue nature, balancing internal monologue with relentless action sequences.
