8k

Released in 2007 on the Base Records label, 8k is a work by the Austrian experimental musician and sound artist Wolfgang Fadi Dorninger. The project emerged from Dorninger’s long-standing exploration of sound synthesis, noise textures, and algorithmic composition, fitting into the lineage of the European avant-garde electronic scene. It represents a period in his career focused on the manipulation of raw frequency data to create dense, immersive sonic landscapes.

The album reflects Dorninger’s minimalist and conceptual approach to design and production, where the sonic content is treated as both an aesthetic experience and a technical study. By utilizing the 8k moniker, the artist highlights the limitations and textures inherent in digital audio resolution. Upon its release, it was received within specialized underground experimental music circles as a disciplined exercise in sonic reductionism, characteristic of Dorninger's broader discography which often bridges the gap between contemporary music and industrial sound art.
