Where it came from
A was released in 1998 on the Polish independent label Biodro Records. The project was spearheaded by Jerzy Mazzoll, a prominent figure in the Polish yass scene—a genre that emerged in the late 1980s as a subversive, improvisational fusion of jazz, punk, and experimental music. This album captures the restless, avant-garde spirit of that movement, prioritizing raw sonic exploration over traditional melodic structures.
The album is noted for its challenging, free-form aesthetic that intentionally distances itself from commercial accessibility. Mazzoll's collaboration with Arhythmic Perfection reflects a deliberate effort to push the boundaries of instrumental composition within the regional scene. While it remains a niche artifact of Polish alternative music, it is frequently cited by enthusiasts of the yass movement as a quintessential example of the era's uncompromising sonic experimentation.
