A Jolly Christmas From Frank Sinatra

Originally released in 1957, A Jolly Christmas From Frank Sinatra served as the artist's first full-length holiday album, capturing the sophisticated, orchestral pop sound that defined his tenure at Capitol Records. Arranged and conducted by Gordon Jenkins, the record was designed to blend the traditional warmth of holiday standards with the signature crooning style that Sinatra had popularized throughout the decade. The sessions were recorded in July of 1957, requiring the studio to be decorated with Christmas trees to foster a seasonal atmosphere amidst the summer heat.

The 2005 release functions as a remastered reissue of this classic collection, intended to preserve the fidelity of the original mono and stereo recordings for a new generation of listeners. By the time of the original release, Sinatra was at the height of his commercial and critical appeal, and the album was received as an essential addition to the mid-century American holiday songbook. The design and tracklist have remained a standard benchmark for holiday vocal jazz, consistently returning to the charts during the winter months due to the enduring popularity of its arrangements of tracks like 'The Christmas Waltz' and 'Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas'.
