Provenance

Where it came from

Released in November 2010, Appelle moi Jen represents the fourth studio album by French singer Jenifer. This project marked a significant shift in the artist's discography, moving away from the pop-rock sound of her earlier work toward a more mature, synth-pop, and electro-infused aesthetic. The record was produced by Pierrick Devin and intended to showcase a more refined and personal artistic identity after her departure from the lighter sound of her debut years.

The album's visual identity and musical direction were heavily influenced by the collaborative work between Jenifer and her production team, aiming for a retro-futuristic appeal that mirrored the resurgence of electronic textures in mainstream French music at the time. Upon its release, the album received a generally positive critical reception, noted for its experimentation with different textures while retaining the melodic accessibility that made the artist a staple of the French charts since her victory on the inaugural season of Star Academy.
