Where it came from
Gigolo Gigolette was released in 1989 on the Mercury label, serving as a notable entry in the late eighties Euro-pop and dance scene. The track was produced by the 2 German Latinos, a project that emerged during a period where German dance production was increasingly looking toward Latin-infused rhythms and synthesizers to capture the international club market.
The composition draws on the era's signature blend of rhythmic programming and theatrical vocal delivery, reflecting the influence of producers like Dieter Bohlen who dominated the European charts at the time. While the project remained a niche curiosity within the broader Mercury catalog, it stands as an authentic piece of late-Cold War era dance-pop, capturing the aesthetic transition from the classic Italo-disco sound toward the more polished, high-energy pop productions of the early nineties.
