Where it came from
Released in 2004 under the Vocation Records label, Aqui Y Ahora showcases the intricate arrangements of the Gustavo Gancedo Cuarteto. The album emerged during a period of sustained interest in contemporary Argentine instrumental music, serving as a platform for Gancedo to explore the intersection of traditional folk rhythms and modern jazz-inflected quartet performance.
The album is noted for its clean production and the interplay between its instrumentalists, a hallmark of the Gancedo Cuarteto's approach to chamber-style ensemble playing. Critics of the era generally viewed the release as a deliberate effort to preserve the harmonic sophistication of regional genres while adapting them for a contemporary listening audience.
