Where it came from
Released in 2013 on the Taca Dancer label, Ballando Kramer was conceived as a centennial tribute to Gorni Kramer, one of the most influential figures in Italian light music and jazz during the mid-twentieth century. The project sought to revisit the melodic elegance and rhythmic sophistication that characterized Kramer’s vast catalog, which defined the soundtrack of Italian radio and television in the post-war era.
The album features the collaborative efforts of clarinetist Michele Marini and accordionist Daniele Donadelli, who were tasked with reimagining Kramer’s compositions through a modern instrumental lens. By blending traditional dance orchestration with a chamber-jazz aesthetic, the duo aimed to capture the nostalgic spirit of the era while highlighting the structural ingenuity of Kramer's original arrangements, resulting in a project that was well-received by aficionados of the Italian musical tradition.
