Boléro - Carmen-Suiten = Carmen Suites

Released in 1988 by the ZYX Classic label, this compact disc presents a pairing of two of the most iconic works in the French orchestral repertoire: Maurice Ravel's Boléro and Georges Bizet's Carmen Suites. At the time of this release, the format of the CD was rapidly becoming the standard for classical music enthusiasts, leading many European independent labels to curate accessible compilations of popular Romantic and Impressionist works for the mass market.

The recording features the Orchestre Radio-Symphonique de Paris under the direction of Loic Bertrand. Like many budget-conscious classical issues of the late 1980s, the design prioritized clarity and broad appeal, featuring straightforward cover art that highlighted the specific compositions rather than the conductors or ensembles. It remains a representative example of how classical repertoire was repackaged for a new generation of listeners during the early digital era.
