Bombay to Goa / Waris

The 1994 EMI release of the soundtrack to Bombay to Goa, paired with Waris, serves as a reissue of classic Bollywood music composed by R. D. Burman with lyrics by Rajinder Krishan. Bombay to Goa, originally released in 1972, was a seminal road-comedy film directed by S. Ramanathan that became famous for its vibrant musical numbers and for featuring Amitabh Bachchan in an early prominent role. The music is celebrated for its eclectic blend of rock-and-roll influences and traditional Indian melodies, reflecting Burman’s innovative approach to orchestration during the 1970s.

This specific compilation reflects the mid-90s push by major labels to digitize and repackage iconic Hindi film scores for a new generation of listeners. By grouping the soundtracks of Bombay to Goa and Waris onto a single compact disc, EMI sought to consolidate Burman's extensive catalog into accessible formats. The design typically follows the standard minimalist packaging of the era, focusing on promotional stills from the films to leverage the enduring cultural recognition of the actors and the composer's storied legacy in the Indian film industry.
