Carmen

This self-titled release by the project Carmen, appearing in 2018, serves as a private pressing that reflects the DIY ethos common to independent electronic and experimental music scenes. The release emerged as a standalone effort, bypassing traditional label infrastructure to ensure total creative autonomy for the artist. It is characteristic of modern bedroom production where the artist assumes all roles, from composition to final mastering, resulting in a project that feels intimate and uncompromised by commercial expectations.

The aesthetic of this release leans into a minimalist, lo-fi design philosophy, prioritizing the auditory experience over elaborate packaging. By choosing to self-release, the artist intentionally removed the barrier between creation and listener, allowing the work to circulate through specialized underground circuits and digital communities. While it remains a niche item within the wider electronic landscape, its design is celebrated by collectors for its raw, unfiltered approach to sound sculpture and independent distribution.
