Where it came from
Released in 1999 through Little Rose Productions, this split CD serves as a significant artifact of the late nineties Finnish extreme metal underground. It features the melodic death metal band Immortal Souls alongside the gothic-tinged black metal outfit Mordecai, capturing a period when the local scene was actively experimenting with blending atmospheric, melancholic soundscapes with traditional harsh metal aesthetics.
The split was designed to provide a cohesive, seasonal listening experience that mirrored the stark, frozen landscapes often associated with Finnish metal. While both bands were in their early developmental stages, the release was received as an honest document of the era's DIY approach, helping establish both acts within the European metal circuit and laying the thematic groundwork that Immortal Souls would further refine in their subsequent studio albums.
