Where it came from
D'jenks is the eponymous debut studio album by the Indonesian ska-punk band D'jenks, released in 2014 under the independent label Paviliun Records. Emerging from the vibrant and tight-knit alternative music scene in Jakarta, the album serves as a definitive statement of the band's high-energy sound, which fuses traditional Jamaican ska rhythms with the aggressive, fast-paced sensibilities of 1990s melodic punk rock.
The album reflects the band's intent to revitalize local interest in the ska subculture through punchy songwriting and rhythmic interplay between brass sections and distorted guitars. Upon its release, the CD was well-received within the Indonesian independent music circuit, helping to solidify D'jenks' reputation as a standout act in a genre that had previously peaked in popularity during the late 1990s and early 2000s in the region.
