Dornröschen (Ausschnitte Aus Dem Ballet)

Released in 1991 on the Amabile label, this recording of highlights from Tchaikovsky’s Sleeping Beauty features the Rundfunk-Sinfonieorchester Berlin under the baton of Heinz Rögner. The release emerged during a period of transition for East German musical institutions, as the Berlin Radio Symphony Orchestra—formerly under GDR state administration—integrated into the unified German cultural landscape. It represents a typical archival-style release intended to capture the ensemble's long-standing proficiency in the Romantic repertoire.

Heinz Rögner was a conductor deeply associated with the German symphonic tradition, known for his precision and his ability to draw refined, nuanced performances from the Berlin Radio orchestra. The design and production of this CD reflect the utilitarian, no-frills aesthetic of early 1990s classical reissue labels, which prioritized the availability of standard orchestral staples over elaborate packaging. It serves as a testament to the technical stability and interpretative consistency maintained by Rögner during his decades-long tenure with the orchestra.
