Dornröschen: Ballettsuite - Romeo Und Julia - Polowetzer Tänze

This release, featuring Tchaikovsky’s Sleeping Beauty suite alongside works by Borodin, was issued by the budget label Musique d'Or. Labels of this nature typically compiled standard orchestral recordings from licensed archives to provide classical music accessibility for casual listeners during the late 20th century. The selection reflects the standard repertoire of the Romantic era, focusing on evocative, melodic movements frequently adapted for high-fidelity compilations intended for general audiences.

The sleeve art and track curation follow the design ethos of the European budget-classical market during the 1980s and 1990s. The focus was on clear, utilitarian presentation of well-known compositions rather than specialized interpretive or historically informed performances. By pairing Tchaikovsky’s ballet suite with Borodin’s Polovtsian Dances and Prokofiev’s Romeo and Juliet, the collection aimed to deliver a cohesive experience of dramatic, orchestral storytelling for home listening.
