Durch Den Traum

Durch den Traum marks the fifth studio album by the Austrian neofolk and black metal band Dornenreich, released in 2008. The album represents a distinct shift in the group’s trajectory, moving further away from the aggressive black metal foundations of their earlier work toward a more acoustic, atmospheric, and experimental sound. It was composed during a period of deep introspection for the primary songwriter, Evíga, who sought to blend intricate, poetic German lyricism with neoclassical arrangements to better reflect the band's focus on existential themes and nature.

This specific iteration of the release was produced under the Irond label, which handled the distribution of the album within the Eastern European market. The design and layout were crafted to mirror the album's dreamlike quality, utilizing melancholic imagery that aligns with Dornenreich's dark, contemplative aesthetic. While the transition in sound proved polarizing for some long-term listeners who preferred their earlier, heavier output, the album was generally received by critics as a brave evolution that solidified the band's reputation for artistic integrity and technical growth within the underground metal scene.
