In Luft Geritzt

In Luft Geritzt was originally released in 2001, though the version produced by the Russian label Irond in 2008 represents one of many international editions of this foundational work. Emerging from the Austrian black metal scene, Dornenreich crafted this album as a pivotal transition in their sound, moving away from harsh, traditional black metal toward an experimental, acoustic-driven atmospheric style. The record reflects the band's fascination with nature, existential philosophy, and the intricate connection between humanity and the raw elements of the earth.

The album is noted for its evocative composition, which integrates folk elements with a somber, melancholic intensity. Musically, it showcases a deliberate departure from the chaotic dissonance of their debut, focusing instead on structural sophistication and lyrical depth. Upon its release, it was lauded by critics and listeners within the underground scene for its emotional vulnerability and artistic risk, solidifying Dornenreich's reputation as a genre-defying act that prioritized atmosphere and poetic expression over mere aggression.
