Where it came from
This 2003 recording of Johannes Brahms’s Ein Deutsches Requiem was produced by the Junges Vokalensemble Hannover, featuring the Junges Philharmonisches Orchester Niedersachsen under the direction of Klaus-Jürgen Etzold. The project was conceived as a showcase for these regional German youth ensembles, aiming to provide a fresh, energetic interpretation of Brahms’s solemn liturgical work through the perspective of younger musicians.
The album features vocal soloists Leonore von Falkenhausen and Shigeo Ishino. The recording serves as a historical document of the collaborative efforts between these specific German youth orchestras and choirs during the early 2000s, reflecting a commitment to traditional classical repertoire within an academic and developmental performance framework.
