Provenance

Where it came from

Released in 1993 by the NMC label, this self-titled collaborative album marks a unique moment in the careers of Efraim and Astar Shamir. Following their influential work as part of the legendary Israeli rock band Kaveret and their subsequent individual pursuits, this project brought the husband-and-wife duo together to explore a more intimate musical landscape. The album serves as a reflection of their personal and professional partnership during a period of transition in the Israeli music scene.

The album was crafted to highlight their shared vocal chemistry, blending folk-pop sensibilities with the distinct songwriting style that Efraim Shamir had become known for over the previous decades. While not as commercially widespread as their collective efforts in the 1970s, the record was received by critics as a sincere and melodic endeavor that showcased their ability to adapt their classic rock foundations into a quieter, more domestic aesthetic. Its release remains a notable footnote in the discography of two figures central to the development of modern Israeli popular music.
