Evgenii Svetlanov dirigeert het Residentie Orkest

This recording was released in 1998 by the Residentie Orkest, capturing a live performance led by the esteemed Russian conductor Evgeni Svetlanov. Svetlanov, known for his intense, visceral interpretations of the late Romantic repertoire, maintained a long-standing and productive relationship with the Hague-based orchestra during his tenure as a principal guest conductor. This release serves as an archival document of that partnership, reflecting the orchestra's efforts to preserve their high-profile guest collaborations during the late nineties.

The production sought to capture the characteristic power and sweeping emotional depth that defined Svetlanov's approach to the podium. While the Residentie Orkest is known for its versatility, these recordings highlight their ability to adapt to Svetlanov's robust, often dramatic stylistic demands. Upon release, the disc was primarily distributed within classical music circles in the Netherlands, aimed at enthusiasts of the orchestra's history and collectors of Svetlanov's extensive discography, which remains highly regarded for its commitment to the Russian symphonic tradition.
