Where it came from
Released in 1998 on the Don Q label, Extreme Q: Triple Threat Treatment stands as a notable artifact of the late nineties underground drum and bass and techstep movement. This collaborative project brought together the distinct production styles of D'Headbanga, L-X, and the highly influential Current Value, serving as a snapshot of the experimental, high-velocity sound design that defined the darker, more industrial-leaning corners of the electronic dance music scene at the time.
The record reflects the abrasive, precise aesthetic that characterized Don Q Records' output during this era, focusing on the aggressive percussion and complex, layered synthesizers favored by its contributors. While the EP targeted a specific audience of vinyl DJs and underground aficionados, it remains a respected relic among collectors of the genre, documenting a formative period for the artists involved before many of them went on to find broader recognition within the global bass music community.
