Where it came from
Released in 1998 on the Harvest label, G.e.n. A.t.t.a.c.k.z.! represents a notable period in the late nineties electronic music landscape. The project was conceived by the Global Electronic Network, an alias used by German producer Ata Macias and his collaborators, emerging from the influential Frankfurt electronic scene that flourished around the Robert Johnson club and the surrounding creative community.
The album reflects the era's experimentation with glitch, downtempo, and early digital production techniques, characterized by a clean, minimalist aesthetic that eschewed the more aggressive sounds of contemporary techno. While the release was niche, it is regarded by enthusiasts of German electronica as a thoughtful exploration of ambient textures and structured sound design, offering a snapshot of the experimental output favored by Harvest during that specific creative phase.
