Where it came from
Released in 2000 under the Okking'er & far aps label, this audio collection features the celebrated Danish actor Jens Okking performing the classic fairy tales of Hans Christian Andersen. The project reflects a long-standing Scandinavian tradition of elevating storytelling through the medium of spoken word, utilizing Okking's distinct, gravelly, and emotive voice to bring a mature gravity to these foundational narratives.
The production was spearheaded by Jens Okking himself, who sought to interpret Andersen’s work with a focus on psychological depth rather than purely childlike whimsy. The collection was received as a noteworthy contribution to Danish audio literature, highlighting Okking's capability to bridge the gap between theatrical performance and traditional storytelling, ultimately solidifying the set's place in the broader catalog of Danish cultural heritage recordings.
