Where it came from
Released in 2000, this CD is part of a series featuring Danish actor Jens Okking reading the fairy tales of Hans Christian Andersen. The recordings reflect a period of renewed interest in traditional Danish storytelling through audio media, utilizing Okking's distinct, gravelly voice to provide a grounded and somewhat unconventional interpretation of these classic literary works.
The production was managed by Okking'er & far aps, a company associated with the actor's own creative endeavors during that era. The design choices for the series focused on accessibility and a personal touch, aiming to move away from overly polished or academic readings in favor of an approach that felt more intimate, reflecting Okking's established persona in Danish culture.
