Where it came from
Released in 1986, Hoy y siempre represents a pivotal moment in María Conchita Alonso's musical career during the mid-eighties. Following her transition from a successful career in Venezuelan cinema and television to the American pop landscape, this album served to solidify her identity as a bilingual artist capable of bridging Latin pop sensibilities with the slick, synth-heavy production standards favored in the United States at the time.
The album was produced during a period when Alonso was actively balancing her music with her rising profile in Hollywood. The design and sound aimed to showcase her versatility as a performer, blending romantic ballads with dance-oriented tracks. While critics noted the influence of contemporary pop trends on her vocal arrangements, the album remained a significant touchstone for fans of her crossover era, helping to cement her status as a multifaceted international entertainer.
