Island Of Harmony

Island of Harmony was released in 2007 through the German label Bell Records, a company frequently associated with the synthesis of ambient, electronic, and world music genres. The collaboration between Rüdiger Gleisberg and Bernd Scholl emerged from a period in the mid-2000s when new age and ambient soundscapes were finding a dedicated niche audience looking for meditative, atmospheric audio experiences. The work functions as a synthesis of the two artists' distinct approaches to electronic orchestration, focusing on tonal textures intended to evoke serene, island-inspired environments.

The album reflects a design philosophy common in the electronic ambient sphere of the era, where the music is often packaged with minimalist, evocative artwork meant to suggest a departure from the hectic pace of daily life. Gleisberg, an established composer in the electronic and percussion spheres, partnered with Scholl to leverage their mutual interest in immersive, cinematic sound design. Upon release, the album was received as a competent addition to the genre, praised by ambient music enthusiasts for its technical polish and consistent mood, fitting well within the catalog of independent labels focused on relaxing, atmospheric soundscapes.
