Where it came from
Released independently in 1993, this self-titled project serves as an early document of Jenn Vix's atmospheric, gothic-inflected musical explorations. Emerging from the vibrant independent music scene of the early nineties, Vix utilized the burgeoning potential of home recording and self-distribution to carve out a distinct space for her moody, vocal-driven soundscapes that favored experimental textures over traditional pop structures.
The production reflects the era's DIY ethos, characterized by a raw, lo-fi aesthetic that highlights Vix's collaborative spirit and her evolution as a songwriter. By opting to release the work without the backing of a major label, Vix maintained complete creative autonomy over the project's sonic direction, resulting in a niche but highly personal collection that remains a cornerstone for listeners interested in the darker, more introspective side of the early nineties independent underground.
