Jolly Jumps In

Jolly Jumps In was released in 1998 through BMG France as part of a concerted effort to reissue and highlight the catalog of pianist and accordionist Pete Jolly. The album draws from recordings made during the late 1960s, a period when Jolly was a prolific session musician and bandleader in the Los Angeles jazz scene, often blending hard bop sensibilities with the lighter, melodic textures of West Coast jazz.

The collection is noted for capturing Jolly's technical proficiency and his signature rhythmic vitality, which earned him a dedicated following among jazz historians and aficionados of the 'cool' era. By the time of this 1998 release, the record served as a bridge for a new generation of listeners to appreciate Jolly's influential contributions to the jazz piano tradition, offering a polished look at sessions that originally showcased his versatility in both small-group and studio-orchestral settings.
