Junge Künstler Des St. Petersburger Konservatoriums Spielen Werke Von Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy ⋅ Ernest Chausson ⋅ Peter Tschaikowsky ⋅ Sergej Prokofiev ⋅ Dimitri Schostakowitsch

This recording emerged from the Castello di San Polo in Rosso label, an imprint known for documenting intimate chamber music performances captured within the unique acoustic environment of an Italian castle. The project highlights the technical proficiency of young virtuosos from the St. Petersburg Conservatory, showcasing a repertoire that traverses the Romanticism of Mendelssohn and Chausson into the complex, modern textures of Prokofiev and Shostakovich. By pairing these foundational Russian composers with their European counterparts, the recording serves as a bridge between the rigorous traditions of the Russian school and the broader Western classical canon.

The album features performances by violinist Lydia Kovalenko, pianist Vasily Ilisavsky, and cellist Kirill Kraftsov, artists whose work reflects the disciplined, expressive training characteristic of the St. Petersburg institution. The design and production philosophy of the Castello di San Polo releases typically emphasize a direct, unvarnished sound, aiming to replicate the atmosphere of a private recital. Upon its release, the collection was recognized by listeners for its precise execution and the thoughtful curation of the program, which effectively captures the transitional stylistic periods of the early to mid-20th century.
