La Rivière À l'Envers

La Rivière à l'envers, originally published as a beloved children's novel by Jean-Claude Mourlevat in 2000, was adapted into this audiobook format by Audiolib in 2017. The story follows a young girl named Tomek on a quest to find the mythical river that flows backward, a narrative rooted in the tradition of French fantasy literature that emphasizes philosophical exploration and lyrical prose. The adaptation was commissioned to bring Mourlevat's evocative storytelling to a new generation of listeners, maintaining the whimsical yet poignant atmosphere that characterized the original printed work.

The production design focuses on an immersive auditory experience, utilizing professional narration to capture the distinct voices and emotional depth of Mourlevat's characters. By choosing to voice the work himself, Mourlevat sought to preserve the specific rhythm and inflection he intended for the journey of his protagonists. Upon its release, the audiobook was well-received by French educators and critics, who noted that the production successfully translated the author's narrative intent into an accessible format that appeals to both children and adults.
