Les Chansons De Loupio

Les Chansons de Loupio is a musical companion to the popular French illustrated book series created by Jean-François Kieffer. The album features the work of singer-songwriter Gaëtan de Courrèges, who set the adventures of the young protagonist, a fictional 13th-century troubadour living in the time of Saint Francis of Assisi, to music. The project emerged from a desire to expand the storytelling experience for young readers, bridging the gap between traditional folk melodies and the gentle, moralistic themes found in the original comic strips.

The production was released under the Edifa Mame label, a publisher deeply rooted in French educational and faith-based literature. De Courrèges, known for his work in the realm of modern French chanson, designed the compositions to be accessible and evocative, aiming to capture the wandering spirit of the Middle Ages while remaining grounded in contemporary acoustic arrangements. Upon release, the album was well-received by parents and educators who utilized the Loupio series as a vehicle for teaching history and values, finding the music to be a faithful extension of the books' contemplative and welcoming tone.
